Team Directors Info

On behalf of The Canada Salsa Congress, thank you for being part of this Annual event.

General Information for directors:

  • Maximum time for routine : 5 minutes for teams, 4 minutes for student groups, 3 minutes for couples
  • Time restrictions will be enforced, please respect these time limits and choreograph accordingly. Please remember that your costumes, music and choreography should be appropriate for all ages as there will be young performers attending this event.
  • Contracts and consent and release forms are due by August 1st. All teams performing must be confirmed and have returned their contracts by Aug. 1st. Those groups that have not confirmed, will not perform and teams from the waiting list will be chosen
  • All performers need to submit via email a headshot photo of each performer for the performer’s badges by August 1st. Please include performer’s first and last name. If the photos have not been submitted by Aug. 1st, then those performers will have to wear a wristband (including when they are on stage). ALL PHOTOS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY TEAM DIRECTOR ONLY. Please include name of team, city and first and last name associated with each photo.
  • Payment for Performers’ Passes are due no later than August 15th. ALL PAYMENTS FOR PERFORMERS’ PASSES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY TEAM DIRECTOR. Please list team name, city, first and last name of each performer and type of pass being purchased.
  • Book your team’s hotel rooms online (go to Venue/Hotel). Book early as rooms will sell out! Discounted congress rate only available if room is booked before Sept. 19th.
  • Teams must be available to perform on any of the 4 nights.
  • Performance schedule will not be posted until 3 weeks before the event. If a team is not available on a particular night due to flight times, they must inform Jennifer by August 1st.
  • Tech rehearsal info: All performers MUST attend a technical rehearsal at the performance venue (Grand Ballroom, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel) from 5-7pm on the day of their performance. There will not be a formal tech rehearsal for the Opening Night Gala on Thurs. Oct. 9th. There will be time set aside for performers and competitors to quickly test out the stage (mostly for size of stage, positions on stage and “speed” of floor) before attendees arrive. More details will follow regarding time the dancers can test the stage for Thursday night.
  • The order of the performances will be determined and posted at the end of each day’s technical rehearsal by the stage manager.
