Overview of Amateur Competition:

Overview of Pro-Am Competition:

The Pro-Am competitions consist of one Professional dancer dancing with an amateur or a student.   A professional is considered anyone who has been paid to teach or to perform.

Pro-Am Salsa, Bachata and Hustle Showcase Divisions - This competition will be a "one shot" deal meaning that each couple will present a maximum 2 minute choreographed routine using their choice of music (Salsa, Bachata or Hustle depending on the division).  The international panel of judges will judge each couple and the winners will receive prizes and medals.

Pro-Am Salsa, Bachata and Hustle Heated Divisions - This competition will consist of heats where 3-5 Pro-Am couples will social dance at one time on the floor to a selection of songs chosen by the DJ.

For the Pro-Am Salsa Heated division, there will be a total of 2 Salsa songs played per heat for a duration of 1:30 minutes each (medium tempo and faster tempo with a pause between each song).  After each 3 minute heat, the judges will score each couple on the floor.

In the Pro-Am Bachata Heated division, 3-5 Pro-Am couples will social dance at one time on the floor to a selection of Bachata songs chosen by the DJ.  2 Bachata songs will be played for each heat for a duration of 1:30 minutes each (one slower tempo Bachata and one medium tempo Bachata with a pause between each song).  After each 3 minute heat, the judges will score each couple on the floor.

In the Pro-Am Hustle Heated division, 3-5 Pro-Am couples will social dance at one time on the floor to a selection of Hustle songs chosen by the DJ.  2 Hustle songs will be played for each heat for a duration of 1:30 minutes each (one slower tempo Hustle and one medium tempo Hustle with a pause between each song).  After each 3 minute heat, the judges will score each couple on the floor.

There will be no elimination in the Pro-Am Heated divisions.  Once all of the Pro-Ams have danced, each student/amateur will receive a medal based on their total score (either gold, silver or bronze).  For example, if there are 5 judges with each judge scoring the couple out of 10 points, all couples with a total combined score of between 38 and 50 will receive a gold medal, those scoring between 25 and 38 points will receive a silver medal and those scoring less than 25 points will receive a bronze medal.
