1. The History of Salsa (1960s to present) with Tito Ortos, Puerto Rico
Saturday Oct 8th from 1pm - 1:55pm, Sheraton Hall A & B
This History of Salsa Seminar, will quickly recap the origins of Salsa that Tito discussed last year and will then move on to discuss the history of Salsa since the 1960s and the Fania era up to the present day. Tito will take the attendees on a journey from the origins of Salsa, through its development and to the present incarnation of the music and the dance. From Africa to Cuba, from Cuba and Puerto Rico to New York and from New York to the World, we are going to talk about the different rhythms that compose salsa music today. Tito will also explain who were the key players in its development - the musicians, singers, dancers, bands, promoters, events and places that were involved in Salsa's development up to the present day. Videos, original sound tracks, photos and anecdotes will support all this data and facts for an informative and highly entertaining seminar.
This is one history lesson you will all love!
2. Professional Stage Makeup Application Seminar with Christine Cho, Toronto (additional fee applies for makeup course)
Saturday Oct 8th from 1pm - 1:55pm, Sheraton Hall C
Celebrity makeup artist Christine Cho will share her professional secrets on how to apply stage makeup that is appropriate for dance performances. Participants will learn skills and techniques on how to create intentional/themed looks that translate through bright stage lights and last through the most strenuous routines. Also covered (time-permitting): false lashes, crystals and other appliques, face/body painting, makeup on yourself and on teammates, products, tips and tricks, etc. No makeup or tools needed. Workshop includes lecture, demo, print material and gift bag full of some of Christine's favourite beauty products! You'll also
receive a makeup "cheat sheet" with a recap of tips on products, shopping, and techniques!

Learn valuable, proven, effective, and important information in building your business as a teacher. Jami will share with you her many secrets in how to be the best teacher you can be. Some of the topics to be discussed will be; How to build and maintain rapport with your students, How to organize yourself and your teaching, How to keep your students motivated for learning and progress, Important insights about performing/competing with your students, Good info on first time students, Addressing objections, Group and Private lesson sales, and Marketing/Advertising.
