Team Directors Info
On behalf of The Canada Salsa Congress, thank you for being part of this Annual event.
GENERAL INFORMATION FOR DIRECTORS:
Maximum time for routines: 5 minutes for teams, 4 minutes for student groups and amateur teams, 3 minutes for couples.
Time restrictions will be enforced, please respect these time limits and choreograph accordingly. Please remember that your costumes, music and choreography should be appropriate for all ages as there will be young performers attending this event.
Again this year we will be using our online registration system for all performers and instructors. A new page has been created on our congress website where performers and team directors can log in and list their performer’s names and pay for performer passes with a credit card. Please note that ALL teams, instructors, performers and student performers MUST register through this system. The online performer registration is easy to use, secure and will automatically sync up with our registration database so that everything is quicker and easier for both you and us! Please note that photos are NOT required this year - we will be using clear wristbands for all performers.
INSTRUCTIONS:
To register yourself or your team, go to the congress site and click on Artists/Performer Registration. All teams have been sent their user name and password. Follow the instructions. Please note that performers must be prepared with their contact info and credit card info when they log in. You cannot register without paying for your pass with a credit card. Team directors are welcome to submit all the info for themselves and their team or they may delegate the online registration process to one of their performers or they may have each performer input their own info.
Please note that our staff will be verifying all of the performer names that are submitted. Only team members that are actually performing at the Canada Salsa Congress are eligible for the performer discounts.
DEADLINES:
Team Directors must email a list of all performers’ first and last names to registration@canadasalsacongress.com no later than August 7th, 2011.
Performer Early Bird!!! Performers can save money by purchasing their Performer Pass on or before August 31st, 2011.
On September 1st, the price of all performer passes will increase.
Performer Registration will close at midnight on September 20th, 2011. All teams, instructors and performers must register for their Performer Passes by midnight on Sept. 20th to ensure that their performance spot is reserved, their performer name has been verified by Congress registration staff and that they have been entered into our registration database. No performers will be allowed to register or pay at the event.
All performers will receive a clear wristband at the event. The transparent wristband must be worn at all times including when you are on stage. If you remove or lose your wristband, you will need to purchase a new one at full price. NO EXCEPTIONS.
To pick up your performer pass, bring a piece of Photo ID and a print out of your performer registration confirmation with you to the registration booth at the Sheraton Centre Hotel. Please note that you must have a piece of photo ID to pick up your performer pass. Each person must pick up their own performer pass – you cannot pick up passes for your teammates.
HOTEL ROOMS:
Book your team’s hotel rooms online (go to Venue/Hotel). Book early as rooms will sell out! Special early bird hotel rates on until August 12th. Congress rate only available if room is booked before Sept. 20th and you mention the Canada Salsa Congress at the time of booking.
SCHEDULE:
Teams must be available to perform on any of the 3 nights (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).

TECH REHEARSAL INFO:
All performers MUST attend a technical rehearsal at the performance venue (Sheraton Centre Hotel, Grand Ballroom) from 5-7pm on the day of their performance. There will not be a formal tech rehearsal for the Opening Night Gala on Thurs. Oct. 6th. Competitors will be allowed to quickly test out the stage (mostly for size of stage, positions on stage and “speed” of floor) from 6:00pm-7:00pm before attendees arrive. The Opening Night Gala will be held at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, Dominion Ballroom. The Opening Night Gala is an all ages event.
The order of the performances will be determined and posted at the end of each day’s technical rehearsal by the stage manager.
