Last-Minute Congress Info

 

Online ticket sales close Wednesday October 9th at midnight.  Once online ticket sales have closed, ALL tickets can be bought at the door.  We do NOT sell out  - we have one of the largest ballrooms in Canada.

Registration Booth is open Thurs. 12pm-1am, Fri. 8:30am-1am, Sat. & Sun. 10am - 1am.

If you bought a pass or ticket online, go to Pre Paid Registration booth, show photo ID & pick up your pass.

Our registration booth closes at 1am every night. If performers cannot pick up their pass before 1am on Friday, they will need to pay the late night entrance of $20 to enter the ballrooms/parties late on Friday night. They can then pick up their wristband Saturday morning.

If you bought Ticketmaster ticket from a school, bypass the line-ups and go directly to Security.

Late night tickets (entrance after 11pm) are available at the door.  Thurs. $15 ~ Fri. $25 ~ Sat. $35 ~ Sun. $25.  Includes access to all 3 ballrooms - Salsa, Bachata/Kizomba & Hustle/West Coast Swing. We do not sell out - we have some of the largest ballrooms in Canada.

Anyone who does not pay for their performer pass in advance will need to pay full price for a full weekend pass at the door, NO PERFORMER DISCOUNT. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Thursday & Friday Competitions & Opening Night Gala
Check in for ALL Thursday and Friday competitors is between 12pm and 6pm Thursday in the Imperial Room (lobby level of hotel).  Thursday afternoon competitors MUST check in by 1:30pm or they don’t dance.  Thursday evening competitors MUST check in by 6pm or they don’t dance. Friday competitors, please check-in Thursday between 12pm and 6pm to double-check that you are in all the correct heats and divisions & pick up your competitor numbers for your backs.

No formal tech rehearsal for the competition. Competitors may test the floor between 12pm and 1pm only (no music, no full run throughs)

Thursday daytime Amateur competition will begin at 2pm. FREE for all spectators from 2pm-6pm only.

Thursday night's Professional and Team competition will begin at 8pm. Competitors must be in holding area (back of Imperial Room), in costume, ready to go at 7:30pm.
Doors open for spectators at 7:30pm.  Get there early to cheer on the competitors. 

Competition entry changes will NOT be made after 9:00am Friday morning.  Any last minute competition entries or additions can be made Thursday between 12:00pm and 6:00pm. Entry fees $5- $25 higher than in advance online entry. 

 
Weekend Info
Shows on Friday, Saturday & Sunday begin every night at 9pm.  We suggest getting there an hour early to get a good seat.  Want to upgrade to VIP seat? $25 per night at the door.  Limited availability.

Dress to impress every night.

We do not have a paid coatcheck available this year but there will be a coat rack (unattended) that is free to hang your coat on Friday & Saturday nights.  We are not responsible for any lost items.

Cash bar every night.  Zero tolerance for outside alcohol. No outside beverages allowed in ballrooms and ballroom foyer. All ages event. 

No outside alcohol is allowed on the convention floor at any time.  Only alcohol purchased at the bar will be allowed. Security will be checking and enforcing the Ontario alcohol laws.  Thank you for your co-operation. 

10% off food at Pipers and Benihana in the Royal York Hotel when you show your Canada Salsa & Bachata Congress wristband: Plus great deals on dance shoes, costumes, orthotics and more when you visit the vendors in our Salsa Marketplace.

Zero Tolerance for noise in guestrooms after 11pm. The Royal York is very strict about loud noise in guestrooms after 11pm.  Although we book hundreds of rooms at the hotel, they are spread out amongst all the different floors and there are hundreds of hotel guests that are not part of our event sharing the same floors as us. The hotel security will give a warning and if they are called back to the same room twice, they can evict you from the hotel.  Please party down in the ballrooms and the ballroom foyers!!

 
Tech Rehearsal Info
This year, at Friday, Saturday and Sunday tech (5pm), each team/couple will have 2 minutes to tech. Performers will start at the beginning of their routine and run through it for 2 minutes to music.  The DJ will fade out the song at the 2 minute mark. Note tech rehearsals are for our staff to ensure sound & lighting is ok and to help determine order of show.  

Sunday Afternoon Show & Tech Rehearsal
Tech rehearsal is from 8am to 10am in the Concert Hall.  Each team/couple will have 2 minutes to tech. Performers will start at the beginning of their routine and run through it for 2 minutes to music.  The DJ will fade out the song at the 2 minute mark.

There is no green room for the Sunday afternoon show.  Performers must be in costume, ready to go and meet Lisa, the stage manager, in the Concert Hall at 2pm sharp.  Doors open to the public at 2:30pm and show runs from 3pm-5pm. 

Music
All music was supposed to be submitted in advance to music@canadasalsacongress.com.  If you have not submitted your performance or competition showcase music, please submit it no later than Tuesday October 8th and clearly state the team name and performance day as per the instructions on the Performer Info page on this website.  Onsite we will only be accepting USBs.
